Dave Sheen has been a visible and active member of the Ward 2 community for more than 10 years.
Dave was chair and vice chair of the SouthFields Village School Council 2012 to 2021.
He has encouraged community building and advocated for community safety through his volunteer work with Neighbourhood Watch and the Anthem community's Facebook page. He was an original member of the SouthFields Village Residents Group and he has coached youth soccer in Valleywood and minor baseball in Bolton.
For 18 years, while working full-time, Dave was a part time counsellor at Kids Help Phone providing counselling to children and youth from across Canada.
After 34 years in the youth justice sector, Dave retired from the Ontario Public Service where he earned an Exemplary Service Medal and Bar from the Governor General of Canada.
Dave has decided to bring his public service experience and sense of community to the role of Councillor for Ward 2 in Caledon.
Dave and his family live in the Anthem neighbourhood of Mayfield West. His kids go to school here. His family uses the recreation facilities and the neighbourhood parks; they walk the sidewalks. They regularly drive the streets of the neighborhood.
Dave knows the issues families are facing in our fast growing communities, as well as their impact on nearby farms. He knows the value and the importance of neighbours feeling connected to their community. Dave was active in his community long before he ever thought he would run for Council.
Dave believes in diversity and inclusion and maintaining effective working relationships with all community members and their stakeholders.
After a three(+) decades long career in youth justice, community safety and policing as well as traffic and bylaw enforcement, are important issues for Dave.
Dave has experienced the challenges that come from poor community planning and land development and continually brings his first hand, lived experiences to the Council table when planning for the immense growth that is expected to occur in Caledon in the coming years.
As youth justice manager for nearly 25 years, Dave knows how to work as part of team. Working to find common ground among members of Council in order to benefit all the residents of Ward 2 and Caledon is one of Dave's highest priorities.
