Experience Matters! TRust matters more!

Experience Serving Our Community

Dave Sheen is a long-time Caledon resident, community volunteer, and current Ward 2 Councillor who is running to serve as Regional Councillor for Wards 1, 2 and 3. He is seeking this role to bring practical, community‑first leadership to the issues that matter most to residents: responsible growth, safer roads, strong public services, environmental protection, and effective representation at both the Town and Regional levels.

Dave brings more than three decades of professional public service experience to his work as an elected official. He worked for 34 years in the youth justice sector with the Ontario Public Service, helping support vulnerable young people and families. For 18 of those years, he also served part‑time as a counsellor with Kids Help Phone, providing support to children and youth across Canada. His dedication was recognized with the Exemplary Service Medal and Bar from the Governor General of Canada.

These experiences shape Dave’s belief that public service is about listening, building trust, and working collaboratively to solve problems. He has made a point of being visible and accessible between elections, using social media and his website to keep residents informed and to invite feedback—not just when it’s campaign time. On Council, he has focused on practical solutions that improve everyday life for residents—whether that is addressing local traffic issues, advocating for community safety, or pushing for infrastructure that keeps up with growth. Dave works hard to respond to residents’ concerns, return calls and messages, and be available when people need help navigating Town or Regional issues.

Community Roots

For years before being elected in 2022, Dave was active in the community through local school council leadership, Neighbourhood Watch, resident advocacy, and youth sports coaching. Living in Mayfield West with his family, he understands firsthand the pressures facing growing neighbourhoods, including traffic, infrastructure demands, community safety concerns, and the need to protect Caledon’s rural and natural character.

Dave also believes Caledon has a special responsibility to protect its environment, particularly the unique landscapes and natural heritage areas in Ward 1 and across the Greenbelt, Niagara Escarpment and other protected lands. He supports thoughtful planning that respects our farms, forests, villages, and natural systems while managing growth in a responsible, sustainable way for future generations.

Caledon, and especially Ward 2, is home to a rich diversity of cultures, faiths and backgrounds, and Dave sees this as one of our community’s greatest strengths. He believes in bringing people together, celebrating our diversity, and helping ensure that new and established communities are integrating, participating, and learning from one another so that everyone feels they belong

Someone You Can Trust

On matters of governance and transparency, Dave is not afraid to ask tough questions, challenge decisions he believes are not in the public interest, or take principled stands on issues that matter to residents—even when that is not the easiest path. He has consistently spoken up about accountability, public engagement, and the need to protect Caledon’s voice in decisions about growth and development.

As Regional Councillor for Wards 1, 2 and 3, Dave wants to be a strong, steady voice for our communities on growth management, transportation, environmental protection, community safety, infrastructure investment, and preserving the quality of life that makes Caledon such a special place to call home. He does not take lightly the responsibility of being an elected representative for his neighbours, and he would not be seeking this role if he did not believe he still has more to contribute. He is committed to being accessible, responsive, and accountable to the residents he serves.
